Summit For Someone :: Mt. Whitney

At 9:30 AM, on April 27th, our Summit for Someone team topped out on Mt. Whitney via the mountaineer's route.

Along the way we had a heck of a lot of fun, and managed to raise a combined 30K to help get at risk youth out on their own wilderness adventures!!

Summit For Someone :: Why I climb

"Take us back to sea level!" scream the traitorous, cowardly, jello stick legs that now flap jack in scattered rhythm, attached by pure happenstance it seems to the equally traitorous lungs that, had they not long ago ceased to contain any oxygen, would surely have spilled the most embarrassing of betrayals. The granite tufts and red dirt of a steep mountain path leave little doubt that, despite the inner voice which assures me repeatedly that I have arrived at the gates of hell, I am in fact in Boulder, Colorado.

Farm Labor :: CIW Fair Food Fast, Lakeland FL

I had the priveledge this past week, of joining the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and thier allies, as they joined together in a 6 day fast for fair food at the Publix HQ in Lakeland Florida. The fasters perservered over the course of 6 days, through sweltering heat, thunder storms, and intimidation and harrasment by Publix officials and ultimately broke their fast on day 6, supported by the Kennedy family and hundreds of activists, farm workers, and concerned citizens from around the country.

While it is true that the agricultural system within the US is a complex industry with a...

Farm Labor :: A day in the life, Immokalee FL

Enter Collier county, Florida. A classic tale of two towns. On the one hand you have Naples, the nation’s second-wealthiest metropolitan area. On the other, Immokalee, dubbed by Barry Estabrook (of Tomatoland) the "tomato capital of the United States of America". Now, I know what you're thinking, "Oh Immokalee!? Yeah, they produce like 90% of the fresh domestic tomatoes consumed in winter/spring months in the US right? What are they, the nation's third wealthiest metropolitan area?". Well, believe it or not, despite keeping us...

NYC :: Street Fighter

As a child I harbored dreams of becoming a Ninja.

I even had a couple of throwing stars that I kept hidden in my closet, waiting for the day I would join my Ninja brethren on some great mission.

But the path of life is meandering, and somewhere along the way I gave up on those dreams.

Indeed I had nearly forgotten them altogether until I met this talented human being, and martial artist, PaiSen. A big thanks to Pai and Patrick O'brien (my favorite producer) for indulging my innner child and making this shoot so much fun!
