El Porvenir :: Day I & II

In early March, my younger brother Canyon and I detached ourselves (somewhat reluctantly) from the revelry of carnival and our new friends in Rio and headed north into Central America.

Attempting to fly out of Sao Paulo, we were kept from boarding the plane by an agent who said we couldn't leave without yellow fever vacinations. Rio de Janeiro :: The Other Side of Carnival

"For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

While all the revelry of Carnival certainly didn't create a negative reaction of equal proportions, it did throw the daily lives of the homeless into stark contrast with the joyously carefree world surrounding them.
